WFA Football Week 5 Power Rankings and Recap

The Chicago Force score in final minute to hand D.C Divas loss

Week five in the Women’s Football Alliance was filled with phenomenal games and primetime match ups! Most of our MyWSports Top Ten were in action and playing in very important games at the midway mark of the season. Five more weeks remain in the season, so how will things shape out? Who will play for WBowl II?

Around the League

The Pittsburgh Passion continue their hot start improving to 5-0 on the season with a 38-12 victory over interstate rivals, the Philadelphia Phantomz. The Passion missed out on the playoffs last season but are looking for some redemption in their second year of WFA play. The Boston Renegades exploded in the first quarter for a 28-6 lead and by halftime it was 48-13. The Montreal Blitz struggled to convert in the red zone and this one was called in the fourth with the Renegades winning, 55-19. In an epic showdown in Virginia, the D.C Divas and Chicago Force battled back and forth until the final minutes. The Force scored in the last minute to improve to 4-0 while the two time defending champion, Divas fall to 2-2. In an amazing showing the Flint City Riveters shutdown the Cincinnati Sizzle in a Tier III contest. The Riveters picked up their first win of the season while the Sizzle dropped to 3-1 with the loss.

In our MyWSports Game of the Week, the #7 Central Cal War Angels dismantled the San Diego Surge 44-7 in a west coast showdown. Both teams came in undefeated and with potent scoring capabilities but it was the War Angels who came ready to play. Chantel Niino-Wiggins has led the attack for Central Cal passing for over 400 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. Destanie Yarbrough and Alexis Snyder have dominated the backfield combining for nine touchdowns this year. The War Angels move up this week in our power rankings after this showing.

The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to Denesha Richardson and Charnika Foster of the Arlington Impact. The two running backs have helped guide the offense this season scoring eight touchdowns, four a piece, on the year. The two have split time in the backfield this season and are a big reason why the Impact are 3-1. Arlington earned a 72-0 win over Acadiana Zydeco on Saturday.

The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch: There will be many games that MyWSports will be keeping an eye on this week with plenty of Top 10 match ups, but our MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch in week 6 is the #5 Minnesota Vixen (4-0) visiting the #3 Chicago Force (4-0).
