WFA Football Week 3 Power Rankings

Week 3 might have been a light week for games, but it was not a light week for defenses around the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA). There were only 15 games on tap, but seven teams held their opponents scoreless. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, nine teams scored more than 30 points.

In our MyWSports Game of the Week, the #8 Montreal Blitz crossed the border to take on the New York Sharks. Both teams joined the WFA in January and we are sure that based on their previous battles, this was a game both teams circled on their schedules. The Sharks were coming off of a close 21-18 loss to the two time defending champion, the D.C Divas. The Blitz had yet to play their first game in the WFA. In the Sharks game against the Divas, the Sharks offense did struggle to score until late in the game. However, once they did score, they did storm back to score 18 consecutive points and gave fans optimism that the offense would keep rolling this week against the Blitz. Unfortunately, it was Montreal’s offense that would impress, dominating the Sharks 32-8. The Blitz scored first in a slow going first quarter and led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. Montreal extended the lead with another touchdown in the second quarter and never looked back on their way to their first ever victory over the New York Sharks.

Around the League

The Pittsburgh Passion continued to roll in week 3 with a 36-20 win over the Cleveland Fusion. The Tampa Bay Inferno moved to 3-0 with a 30-6 win over the Daytona Waverunners. The Houston Power dominated the Acadiana Zydeco with a 36-0 shutout. The Seattle Majestics kept up their winning ways, defeating the Everett Reign 23-6. The Portland Shockwave got back in the win column with a 62-20 victory over the South Oregon Lady Renegades.

The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to Ceci Hooks of the Seattle Majestics for her great defense and pick 6 in the Seattle win over the Everett Reign.

The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch: The WFA gets back into full swing in week 4 with 29 games scheduled. If you are a fan of football, then there is one game that is a MUST WATCH and that’s the #3 Boston Renegades traveling down to take on the #1 DC Divas. Last year the Divas won during the regular season in heartbreaking fashion with 17 seconds left to play with a controversial touchdown. Both teams come into the contest undefeated and it is sure to be a great battle. Two other games that peak our interest will be the Kansas City Titans hosting the St. Louis Slam and the Central Cal War Angels hosting the Pacific Warriors. Both games should be close contests.
