The Utah Falconz shutout the Sacramento Sirens on Saturday to remain undefeated

Before the season began, it looked like the Utah Falconz would be the clear favorite throughout the regular season. The defending champions dominated their way through the 2016 season and are looking to make their third straight championship appearance. However, other teams have displayed some strength to start the 2017 season and can potentially dethrone the Falconz come seasons end.

Week 2 gave us a bit more clarity on those teams that are contenders and pretenders, as well as on those that are just a complete disaster. There is no new No.1 this week but we have had some teams move up or down a spot this week in our power rankings.

The MyWSports Team of the Week: Phoenix Phantomz (1-2)

Last weekend, the Phoenix Phantomz defeated the Nevada Storm 18-0 on the road to earn their first win of the season. The Phantomz came into the matchup 0-2 with losses to the Sacramento Sirens (2-1) and Utah Falconz (2-0). After leading 6-0 at the half, Phoenix scored 12 unanswered in the third to pull away from the Storm. The defense did the rest in the fourth quarter shutting down the Nevada offense and helping improve the Phantomz to 1-2 on the season. Phoenix will be on the road to face the Carson Bobcats this week, the national runner-up from a year ago.

The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch:

North County Stars (1-0) vs. Sacramento Sirens (2-1)

The Stars displayed defensive dominance in their season opening win against the Carson Bobcats and are looking to compete for a championship this season. The Sacramento Sirens could not find their offense against the Utah Falconz last weekend but outscored opponents 70-18 in their two wins this season. This can be a another chance for Sacramento to show they can hang with the top teams in the league as North County has proven they are ready to play this season.
