The 2017 WNBA Draft Takes Over New York City
New York, NY - The 21st WNBA season is quickly approaching and what an exciting time of year as the league preps for yet another historic year. Thursday night in New York City, 36 of the nations top collegiate and international talent waited to hear if their name would be called. The years of hard work and dedication all leading to this moment. First overall pick Kelsey Plum said she waited for this moment since she was 10 years old and now the NCAA's leading scorer is heading to San Antonio to continue her career.
Although everyone expected a chaotic draft with trades and big surprises, the only big shock was that none of that happened last night. Teams came well prepared to fill the voids they had coming into the season and stuck to their plans throughout the night. Yes, we can see some movement happen before the season starts but wow was everyone wrong about that (myself included). This was a pretty stacked class but next year the draft class will be one to watch during the NCAA season.
