NWHL All-Star Weekend Takes Over Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - 28 All Stars from the National Women's Hockey League made their way to Pittsburgh, Pa and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex for the 2017 NWHL All-Star Weekend. Following a clinic sponsored by Dunkin Donuts, a great crowd came out Saturday afternoon and witnessed Team Kessel take a 3-2 lead in points after an electrifying skills showdown between Team Steadman.

Rebecca Russo (NYR) 12.75 seconds
Shooting Accuracy:
Kelley Steadman (BUF) 4 for 4 in 14 seconds
Hardest Shot:
Blake Bolden (BOS) 87 MPH
Shootout Challenge:
Team Kessel 2 goals
Breakaway Challenge:
Gigi Marvin 2 for 2 - Tie Breaker
After the final event, the competition was tied at two. Fan voting on the breakaway challenge decided the winner and Gigi Marvins' two goals gave Team Kessel the 3-2 lead going into the All-star game on Sunday.
With a sellout crowd on hand on Sunday the NWHL All Stars took the ice and put on a scoring clinic for the fans to witness the greatness of these athletes in the league. Team Kessel took a commanding lead in the second half, but Team Steadman did not go quietly making it a one score game with under 30 seconds to play. Amanda Kessel scored a hat trick in the contest earning her MVP honors in her home town of Pittsburgh.
