12 UWLX Players Named 2017 World Games Roster
On Friday, USA Lacrosse announced the 15-player U.S. Women’s National Team roster that will compete in the 2017 World Games on July 26-30 in Wroclaw, Poland.
The team features 15 players from the U.S. World Cup team including an alternate on the World Cup roster. Team USA will compete in the World Games immediately following the conclusion of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s World Cup, July 12-22 in Guildford, England.
The 2017 World Games, an IOC-regulated event that promotes non-Olympic sports, marks the first time lacrosse has participated. Six nations will compete in the event, joining the U.S are Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan and Poland.
Team USA will play Team Poland and team Great Britain in pool play.
The World Games roster includes 12 players who competed in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League and two current collegiate stars. Alyssa Murray will serve as the alternate on the roster.
