BUFFALO, NY - Following the news of potential salary cuts for players on Thursday night, the Boston Pride and Buffalo Beauts took the ice at the HarborCenter in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon. The Pride put together another dominating performance against the Beauts. During their last meeting, the Pride could have easily had a similar result, but Brianne McLaughlin turned away 42 shots in regulation and forced a shootout. The Pride won in the shootout. This time around, it was the Pride putting together an offensive showcase scoring five goals on the Beauts. Brittany Ott became the first player in NWHL History to record back to back shutouts in the league, keeping Buffalo off the score sheet with 24 saves. Meghan Duggan had two points, scoring a goal and an assist in the win against her former team. Alexandra "Lexi" Bender got the scoring started with her first of the season, after receiving a nice pass from Kacey Bellamy. The Pride outshot the Beauts 20-4 in the first period and held on the the 1-0 going into the first intermission. Midway through the second period, Meghan Duggan doubled the Pride lead taking a pass from Alex Carpenter and sneaking it past McLaughlin for a 2-0 advantage. Just about three minutes later Gigi Marvin and the Pride power play unit converted on the rush to add another goal to the lead. Boston finished the night 4-6 on special teams, the penalty kill was 3-3 while the power play finished 1-3. In the third period, Rachel Llanes and Alex Carpenter score goals with under nine minutes left to increase the margin to 5-0. The Pride improve to 6-0-0 on the season and increase their winning steak to 17 games since last losing in January to the Buffalo Beauts. The teams will be on a holiday break and resume action on December 3, 2016.
