"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey Set to Return for UFC 207
Ronda Rousey's return to the UFC is official following an announcement by Dana White on FS1's "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd today. Rousey has been out of the octagon since losing to Holly Holm in UFC 193 last November and will fight current bantamweight title holder, Amanda Nunes in her return at UFC 207 in Las Vegas.
After starting her career with 12 straight wins, including six title defenses, Rousey was shocked by Holm last November in a title bout, and since has taken time off, 11 months, to regroup before returning. Although many questioned if Rousey would even return this fight makes the most sense with the chance to earn back her title.
Despite the long wait, Amanda Nunes made it clear she wanted her title defense to come against Rousey and now will get her wish. "if they ask me who I want to fight, I’m going to say I want to fight Ronda,” Nunes told Combate. “I’m not running from anyone, I’m the champion and I can choose who I’m going to fight. I will choose what’s best for me, and Ronda would be ‘the’ main fight.” Nunes defeated Miesha Tate to claim the title, in a first round submission at UFC 200 in July.
Rousey has yet to make an offical announcement but her comeback arguably is the most-anticipated event for UFC fans.
