2016 Rio Olympics Day Three Recap
USA Field Hockey is on an impressive run (@USAFieldHockey/Twitter)
Day three of the Summer Olympics has come and gone, medals have been won, nations have come together, heartbreak has been witnessed. We discussed last night on the MyWSports Sports Monday podcast what the Olympics are actually all about and the importance not only to the individuals and teams competing but to the fans all over the world watching.
It's only been three days, technically four if you count soccer ahead of the opening ceremonies but that being said in three days I feel like we have seen it all! The raw emotion of these amazing athletes when they win, or lose is tremendous, we are witnessing the greatest athletes in the world, compete on the biggest stage of the them all, the Olympics.

Team USA continues to dominate in pool play this time against a better Spain team. Diana Taurasi was a spark early but the team has gotten great contributions from the bench and players like Elena Delle Donne. If USA continue at this pace they will break the record for most points by a team in the Olympics. The team also improves to 43-0 in Olympic play since the 1992 Bronze medal game.

USA def. Netherlands 3-2
Team USA found themselves in an early deficit against a much improved Netherlands team, which had just upset China a few days before. USA down 2-1 had gone away from their game plan in the first three sets. In set four, the US used its blocking up front to build a lead and force a decisive fifth set. In the fifth, the US pulled away and held off a gritty team from Netherlands.
