IWFL Top 10 Power Rankings Week 10

The New York Sharks Claim 2016 Atlantic Division Title (NYSharks/Facebook)

The Independent Women’s Football League regular season wraps up this weekend with the final 13 games taking place Saturday. Last weekend we saw teams clinch playoff berths, division titles and some spectacular performances. The Utah Falconz continue to crush opponents and remain undefeated with a 61-8 victory over the Nevada Storm. They can finish off another perfect regular season against the Bakersfield Bombers this weekend. The Carson Bobcats have been just as successful this year, in their inaugural season in the IWFL, the Bobcats finished their regular season perfect at 7-0 with over 250 points scored. Mariah Turner has been phenomenal all season long, rushing for over 900 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Bobcats. In other action the Nebraska Stampede defeated the Colorado Freeze 40-6, and the Woodlands Wildcats took down the San Antonio Regulators to keep pace with the Austin Yellow Jackets who lead the Central Conference at 6-0.

In last weeks MyWSports game of the Week, the New York Sharks traveled down to Carolina to take on the red hot Phoenix. Both teams would need a win to clinch a division title and first round bye. New York’s game plan was executed to perfection, jumping out to a 28-6 lead before the half. The defense was clicking on all cylinders Jewelle “TJ” Grimsley was all over the field and had a pick six to open up the lead for the Sharks. The win gives New York the Atlantic conference title and a date with the Minnesota Vixen in the 2nd round of the IWFL playoffs. Speaking of playoffs some of the matchups have been set after week 10. We will keep you updated with who will be playing where on a special Monday edition of the MyWSports IWFL Power Rankings/Playoff Preview.

2016 Playoff Matchups (more to come)

Carson Bobcats v. Utah Falconz (1st Round) 6/25/16 New York Sharks v. Minnesota Vixen (2nd Round) 7/9/16

The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to Keeshya Cox of the Utah Falconz. The Falconz defeated the Nevada Storm to clinch the Pacific title this past weekend. Cox through ten weeks of action has accumulated 15 individual touchdowns, the most in the IWFL this season. Utah is 7-0 and looking to make It 8-0 in week 11 against the Bakersfield Bombers.

The MyWSports Game of the Week is an Atlantic division contest between the #2 New York Sharks (7-0) and the Washington Prodigy (4-3). New York is going for the perfect regular season and in an earlier matchup the Prodigy defense came up just short in a 10-7 loss. New York coming off a big win over Carolina already has its playoff destination set, but a perfect season would be icing on the cake. Washington has proven to be a tough team to beat this season and are looking forward to the matchup against the Sharks.
