WFA Top 10 Power Rankings Week 10
D.C Divas Look to Defend WFA Crown (DC Divas/Facebook)
With Week 10 being the final week of the season and following the Memorial Day holiday, many teams had an extra week to prepare for some intense Week 10 match ups! Although not much changed in the playoff picture due to Week 10, we were given some great games that showed us how exciting the playoffs are going to be!
The first round of the Playoffs will start on June 11th with home games for all of the higher seeds. We apologize for our Week 9 error, below is the correct playoff structure for Tier I and Tier II.
The First Round in Tier I should be very interesting. Kansas City should have no problem with Arlington if we take into consideration the strength of schedule between the two teams. Kansas City was able to score 20 points on the Dallas Elite, the Divas were the only other team to score on the Elite and they only scored 19. Portland and Pacific could be a tight contest. Portland comes in undefeated, but critics would say they play in a weak division. However, Portland has dominated the Northwest, outscoring their opponents 343-32. Pacific’s two losses both came at the hands of Central Cal, without those two defeats, the Warriors have outscored opponents 277-38.
Atlanta is a solid team with a great run game, however Pittsburgh has played the best of the best all season and are battle tested. Pittsburgh put up a solid offensive effort against Chicago and Boston, where as Atlanta was no match in their contest against the Divas. As we reported after week 8, the Boston Renegades will face the Cleveland Fusion without Quarterback Allison Cahill. Without Cahill, the Renegades offense relies much more on the run. Boston defeated Cleveland 28-7 and 47-18 in their two meetings this season, but now this could be a very close game! Cleveland’s defense has played much better the last 3 weeks. Boston’s defense will have to create turnovers to help the offense get the ball on the Cleveland side of the field.
The First Round in Tier II also should give fans some highly competitive games as well. Mile High has the smallest WFA schedule with only 4 games against WFA opponents, however playing the Kansas City Titans twice is sure to help them get ready for the playoffs. Everett was never able to solve the offenses of Portland and Seattle in their division and this could be the reason for their downfall against Mile High. Two 4-4 teams that were heavily outscored by opponents this season face off on the National Conference side with the Indy Crash taking on the Columbus Comets. Both teams played the Cleveland Fusion this year with Indy winning 20-0, but the Comets losing both games by 19 and 31. Indy played a demanding schedule taking on Kansas City, Chicago, and St. Louis and this strength of schedule should help Indy win this game pretty handedly. Alabama has been a force on the ground this year running for over 2,000 yards as a team. Jacksonville finished 5-3 and lost 44-13 to Atlanta, where as Alabama split with the Phoenix.
The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch: Atlanta Phoenix @ Pittsburgh Passion. As mentioned, this game could go either way. Atlanta’s run game could be a problem for Pittsburgh, but Pittsburgh’s offense might be too much for Atlanta as well. Either way, this should be a shootout until the final whistle!
The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to the DC Divas Kenyetta Grigsby. Grigsby had 13 carries for 95 yards and 1 touchdown, but with that touchdown became the first player in Divas history to score 100 touchdowns in DC’s 55-7 win over Boston in week 10.
