WFA Top 10 Power Rankings Week 8

The DC Divas are looking for a chance to go back to back (DCDivas/Facebook)

The Women’s Football Alliance playoffs are beginning to take shape. With 8 of the 10 week schedule behind us, teams are beginning to separate from the rest of the pack. As the weeks have gone on we have seen teams who were dominant the first few weeks hit the brakes. We’ve also seen some very close games that will make major impacts in the standings.

In our MyWSports Game of the Week, the #5 Boston Renegades hosted the #8 Chicago Force in what was sure to be a memorable game for both teams. Both teams had lost in the final seconds to the DC Divas and both teams were hoping to push the other team to 2 losses on the season. Both teams needed the win as they both have tough matchups in week 10 when the Renegades take on the Divas in a rematch and the Force play the Passion. Unfortunately Rasan Gore and the Chicago Force offense was just too strong for the Renegades, scoring 52 points on 1 passing touchdown and 4 rushing touchdowns by Gore. The Renegades didn’t just lose the game though, Boston also lost legendary Quarterback Allison Cahill, most likely for the season, when she went out of the game at the end of the first half with a Broken Collarbone injury. The Renegades went with Chante Bonds in the second half of the game, but were unable to score with Bonds at Quarterback.

The Dallas Elite remained in the top spot in the rankings with their convincing 66-0 win over Arlington. Central Cal also stayed hot, beating the West Coast Lightning 84-0. The Alabama Fire got the revenge they were looking for with a 34-18 win over the Atlanta Phoenix who beat the Fire 48-20 in Week 4. The Pacific Warriors beat the struggling Sin City Trojans 26-8. This was the Trojans 4th straight loss, after starting the season 3-0. The Seattle Majestics moved into the top 10 with a 49-19 win over the South Oregon Lady Renegades. Big mover of the week was the Boston Renegades who fell out of the Top 10 after losing Cahill and the game to Chicago.

The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to the Quarterback of the Chicago Force, Rasan Gore! Gore has been dominant all season and with her good arm and great speed that makes it tough for any defense to stop. The Force scored 52 points on a solid Boston Renegades defense, Boston couldn’t stop Gore who ran for 4 touchdowns and passed for another. Gore and the Force’s offense are going to be a tough team to beat in the playoffs.

The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch: Week 9 is a light week, heading into the oversized Week 10. However, don’t tell that to the fans in Missouri who will be treated this Memorial Day weekend to an instate rivalry between the Kansas City Titans and the St. Louis Slam. The last time these two teams met, Kansas City came away with a 36-26 victory in Week 2. The Titans are currently 4-1 and the Slam are 3-2 and there is no doubt in our mind, this will be another great battle between the two rivals.
