A week ago, the Canadian Basketball Association released their 24 player training camp roster that will take place from May 21st to May 30th in Edmonton, Alberta. On that list, were several veterans from Team Canada, some new faces and some young, exciting players. For the first time in a long time, there will be some difficult choices as to who will get left off the 12 player roster for the Rio Olympics.

Of the 24 players, 4 players are currently on WNBA teams and will have to negotiate with their teams to see if they can participate in training camp. The other 20 have either played overseas or are still in college, so they will not have any issues in coming to the camp.

Canada is currently ranked 9th in the world in FIBA rankings which should go up as they continue to get ready for the Rio Olympics.

After the training camp is over, a squad will be nominated to participate in a 5 game exhibition tour in Spain and France. Team Canada will then take a brief break before coming back on June 28th for the second phase of training camp.
