IWFL Top 10 Power Rankings Week 6
Utah Falconz are looking for another shot at IWFL Championship (UtahFalconz/Facebook)
This week we got to see some really intense games in the Independent Women’s Football League, from blowouts to one point victories we had it all this week. As some of the top teams got some rest this week, the teams on tab this past weekend could make up some ground. 11 games this past weekend lets get right into it!
The Woodlands Wildcats, Nebraska Stampede, and Minnesota Vixen all scored over 40 points this weekend while only giving up 18 to opponents combined. The Wildcats got back to their winning ways following the loss to the Austin Yellow Jackets two weeks ago. The Vixen also had quite the performance with an impressive 46-0 over the Detroit Pride. They have been moving up in our MyWSports Top 10, and have definitely proven to be a team to be reckoned with, this week they welcome division foe, the Iowa Crush. The Atlantic Conference probably had the best games from top to bottom last weekend. The Baltimore Nighthawks traveled down to Carolina to take on the Queens and in a back and forth affair the Nighthawks pulled out a 19-18 win. In the MyWSports Game of the Week the New York Sharks traveled across the border (spending over an hour in custom?!?!?) and still managed to earn a 13-12 victory over their division rival. The Sharks defense again stepped up big in this one, Montreal had come into the matchup outscoring opponents 163 to 7. The Sharks have the week off and can use it after an impressive 5-0 start the Sharks will use this rest to prepare them for a tough second have schedule.
The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to the Knoxville Lightning of the Affiliate Division. The Lightning earned an incredible 8-6 victory over Midwest member and rivals the Tennessee Train this past week. If you missed our story on Sheila Sickau, you should definitely get to know her story and that of the Lightning. Sheila among other teammates was injured against the Carolina Phoenix. This past weekend with a depleted roster Knoxville knocked off their foes, and swept the season series against the Train. Knoxville went, 0-7 last season and are now first in the Affiliate division.
The MyWSports Game of the Week is the Atlantic Conference battle between the 4-0 Carolina Phoenix and the 3-1 Washington Prodigy. Carolina coming off the bye and scoring the most points in IWFL this season look to keep rolling to the post season. Washington suffered a tough 10-7 loss earlier in the year to the New York Sharks. They have played well since that loss and playing at home has always been of comfort for the Prodigy. Catch this game Saturday!
