Pittsburgh Passion defeat Detroit Dark Angels (Photo Credit: Kesha Silver)
The Women’s Football Alliance is now half way through the 10 week season slate and we have narrowed our view on the teams who are in position to fight deep into the playoffs. This week our MyWSports Game of the Week turned out to be a dominating performance from the Central Cal War Angels. The Sin City Trojans had averaged 60 points per game in their previous 3 games. However the War Angels defense was just too strong for the Trojans, holding them to just 6 points. The Central Cal offense was led by a mix of run and pass as Running Back Destanie Yarbrough ran for four touchdowns and Quarterback Chantel Wiggins threw for three.
The Pittsburgh Passion move up to the top spot in our MyWSports Top 10 with a convincing 55-6 win over the Detroit Dark Angels. Chicago Force held steady as well with a 68-0 rout of the Columbus. Dallas Elite is a team on a mission this year. Their 60-20 win over the Kansas City Titans is their 3rd win by 40 or more and the only game they didn’t win by 40, they beat the DC Divas in week 2 by 21. The Portland Fighting Shockwave posted their second shutout of the season, beating the Everett Reign 47-0. The Tampa Bay Inferno stayed undefeated beating the Daytona Waverunners 31-0.
Heading into the second half of the season, there are many interesting games coming up, however, they’re not happening in week 6. The DC Divas head to Chicago to take on the Force, this should be a great game. The Kansas City Titans will host the Mile High Blaze, in what should also be a close contest. Unfortunately, if teams take care of business, the rest of the week 6 games should be lopsided affairs. Follow the DC Divas versus Chicago game on the DC Divas twitter feed (@dcdivasfootball) for game updates and half time and post game video recaps.
The MyWSports Player of the Week goes to the Central Cal War Angels Running Back Destanie Yarbrough who ran for 4 touchdowns in the War Angels 58-6 win over the previously undefeated AND un-scored upon Sin City Trojans.
The MyWSports Game of the Week to Watch is #3 Chicago Force hosting the #5 DC Divas. The Force are 4-0 and have had dominating wins over West Michigan Mayhem, Indy Crash, St. Louis Slam and Columbus Comets. However, the defending champion DC Divas are no walkover. The DC Divas have gotten back on track after losing the first game of the year to the Dallas Elite, with wins over the Boston Renegades and the Atlanta Phoenix. This will be a good test for Chicago to see where they stack up against the traditional powerhouse teams. The Divas need to stay on the roll they’ve been on.
