2016 National Pro Fastpitch Draft A Hit!
Inside The Country Music Hall of Fame (Jade Hewitt/National Pro Fastpitch)
Nashville TN – The 2016 National Pro Fastpitch draft was held inside the Country Music Half of Fame Thursday night and was televised live for the second consecutive year by CBS Sports Network. With a live television audience and increased social media presence the league had all eyes on this amazing showcase.
Over 100 players submitted for the draft but only 40 collegiate seniors were lucky enough to be drafted by the six franchises in the NPF. From mid major institutions to powerhouse programs many of the best softball players in the country were selected. With the #1 overall pick the Pennsylvania Rebellion sured up some offense and defense for the upcoming season with selecting Lexie Elkins from Louisiana-Lafayette. The USSSA Pride decided to keep it close to home and selected three players out of the University of Florida and look to make another deep run into the post season.
We will have more to come from the draftees and plenty more coverage on the NPF as the season continues.
