#21 Oklahoma upsets #6 Texas (Tyler Drabek/FRE)

College basketball has always shown us that anyone can win at any time. This week was full of Top 25 matchups, not many upsets, but many close finals. The top teams were tested and that’s the challenge of conference play, the teams who know you the best will always find your weakness.

Thursday #2 South Carolina remained perfect in SEC play, beating #16 Florida by 15. Maryland handled Purdue behind another great effort from Walker-Kimbrough. Ohio State went on the road to beat Iowa, but proved they are a great offense, winning 98-81. The big matchup of the day was #11 Mississippi State falling to #15 Texas A&M. The Courtney’s (Williams 22 pts and Walker 21 pts) led the Aggies who trailed by 6 at the half, but then dominated the second half, winning 64-58.

Pac 12 Friday saw all 4 ranked teams take home wins. Oregon State is now 8th in the nation and primed to move up, if they can get by UCLA and Stanford next week. Arizona State beat California, but their loss to Oregon State could haunt them heading into the Pac 12 tournament. Stanford got a hot first quarter (24-7) to cruise in a win over Arizona. UCLA’s Monique Billings scored 16 points to lead UCLA over Washington State.

Saturday in the Big 12, #4 Baylor smoked Texas Tech by 30. #20 Oklahoma State took advantage of a show start from #24 West Virginia to win 63-51. Baylor has looked tough this year, since there win over Texas, they have dominated competition winning 2 games by over 10 points and 5 games by over 20.

Valentine’s Day was a very busy day in college basketball. UConn and Notre Dame dominated by 25 and 21 points respectively. #6 Texas led #21 Oklahoma by 4 after the third period, but a 7 points 4th quarter by the Longhorns, opened the door for a 18 point win for the Sooners. #9 Arizona State went on the road to #13 Stanford and blew a 13 point lead in the 4th period. But held on to send the game to overtime and Sophie Brunner helped the Sun Devils win another one on the final shot. #17 Michigan State was also upset by Nebraska 73-66.
