Boston Pride Continue Hot Streak, Take Down Rival New York, 6-1.

Boston Pride has won four straight thanks to Brittany Ott (Luis Sanchez/MyWSports)

Brooklyn, NY - Chelsea Laden made her first career start for the New York Riveters after being acquired in a trade earlier this month from the Connecticut Whale. Laden’s first start in net would be against the potent Boston Pride offense and did not go well. Laden made a couple big saves early on to keep the game scoreless, but five minutes into the matchup, Kelly Cooke buried a rebound that made it 1-0 Boston.

However, just seconds later, Lyudmila Belyakova scored on a Riveters power play to tie the game at 1. It looked like New York might make this a game, or wouldn't let it become a blow out but from there the Pride put their foot on the gas and didn’t let up. The Pride scored 2 late goals in the first to give them a 3-1 lead going into the first intermission.

The whole night minus the power play goal to Belyakova, the Riveters struggled to figure out a way to get the puck past Pride goaltender Brittany Ott (16 Saves). The teams always play each other tough and the Pride had 10 penalties on the night, unfortunately, New York could not capitalize on all but one. Boston would out shoot New York 36-17 in the game and would go on to win 6-1

With the win Boston temporally moves into first place over Connecticut. The Whale will play host to Buffalo who have won two in a row. If the Whale win they would jump ahead of the Pride by one point in the standings. The race for the playoffs is just getting started stayed tuned as the season comes to a close.
