Another great weekend of NCAA Women’s Basketball is in the books. With most teams in conference play, every game is more important and teams know more about their opponents. Conference play offers competitive matchups and rivalry games that can boil over at any point.

This weekend saw an undefeated fall, an underdog take out 2 ranked opponents, and a powerhouse get a scare. Starting on Thursday, upsets became the name of the game. #5 Ohio State has been a high scoring offense, but on Thursday Northwestern outscored them, winning 86-82. Arkansas this week knocked off two ranked opponents, #13 Tennessee on Thursday and #24 Missouri on Sunday. The SEC was busy Thursday when Georgia topped Florida, #2 South Carolina stayed undefeated, beating #9 Kentucky 73-62 and #15 Texas A&M pounded Ole Miss 81-58.

Friday was game day for the Pac 12 and the upsets would continue. Washington knocked off #17 UCLA and Washington State upset #25 USC. #10 Arizona State dominated Colorado for the only top 10 team to play on Friday.

Saturday saw UConn demolish Temple by 55, a Temple team who was 5-1 and second in the AAC prior to the matchup. Oklahoma State followed suit, taking down #14 Oklahoma in the Bedlam rivalry 73-42.

On Sunday, #15 Texas A&M tied the game with #2 South Carolina with a deep pass and layup with 2 seconds left. South Carolina immediately inbounded the ball and unsure of the situation, an Aggie player fouled Khadijah Sessions, sending her to the line with .9 seconds left. Sessions hit one of the two free throws, leading the undefeated Gamecocks to another win.

#6 Baylor knocked #4 Texas from the undefeated ranks with an 80-67 win. Poor shooting from Texas in the second period gave Baylor a 12 point lead at the half that Texas couldn’t overcome. Baylor at 18-1, with their only loss to Oklahoma State is a top contender as well. Alexis Jones and Nina Davis scored 29 and 24 points respectively for Baylor.

Ohio State got back on track with a 90-70 win over Purdue. #12 Oregon State and #11 Stanford had a great battle, with Oregon State winning 58-50. #25 USC lost its second in row in the Pac 12, this time to Washington.

After an exciting weekend of upsets, we can expect many changes in the Top 25. Baylor and Maryland should move up, Tennessee and Mississippi State will likely move down, and we should hear more about Northwestern, Washington, and Arkansas moving towards the Top 25.

Who will knock off South Carolina or UConn? Can Maryland continue to roll through the Big Ten? Who will win the wide open SEC? Stay tuned on MyWSports.com for all your NCAA Women’s Basketball action.
