THE BOSTON PRIDE TRAVEL BACK TO BUFFALO, BEAUTS AWAIT!

Game Info

Boston Pride vs. Buffalo Beauts

HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY

3:30pm Eastern Standard

Live Stream: NWHL.co

The New York Riveters were excited about their home debut, and maybe Boston sneakily got away with the most convenient way to ICE an opponent. THE DELAY!

Okay well maybe not a planned delay but I still cant help but think there were some people on that bus that at some point opened goggle maps and said “we’re going to be late!” The Pride made it to Brooklyn, eventually and the game got underway just about an hour after the scheduled time.

Boston came out strong with Zoe Hickel scoring her first goal of the year just 55 second into the start of the game. The Pride and Riveters would get physical throughout the first period and tally a total of four penalties two a piece for minor infractions. The Pride would get a goal from Brianna Decker to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

Both teams battled in the second and as play continued to get physical two fights would eventually break out during the game. A lot has been made about what happened Sunday and as much as I love a physical game I agree the NWHL has to come up with some code at the very least. I love a good old fashion Boston vs. New York rivalry and I can see that happening here in the NWHL but as a fan of the game and the players on the Ice I would prefer no one get hurt.

Back to the game, Boston would take a 3-1 advantage going into the third. The Pride would break it open early as Hickel notched her second of the game early in the third, and Boston would eventually score 4 in the period to win 7-1.

The Pride have looked like the best team on the ice so far this season, handling Buffalo in week one and a blow out of the Riveters last weekend has them in first place after two weeks. The team plays cohesively and most people would credit that to the players having formerly played for the CWHL’s Boston Blades. I would also credit the coaching staff in Boston. Hayley Moore has put together a great organization and with Coach Bobby Jay at the helm, things are only looking better for Boston.

The Pride travel back to the HarborCenter in Buffalo to take on the Beauts for the second time in three weeks. It will also be the third consecutive home game for the Beauts who are looking to avenge an opening day loss to the Pride. Meghan Duggan is finding her form with the Beauts and played a huge role in game one for Buffalo. Boston is stacked with talent and Hilary Knight consistently finds a way to create opportunities. The Pride will need her to continue in her dominance as she has made the team a better offensive unit by opening up the ice. Brianna Decker has also had a great start to the year and looks to continue her success this Sunday. Boston has outscored opponents 11-2, so far on the season. The offense is clicking for the Pride we will see if they can continue their winning ways in Buffalo, I know the Beauts will be looking for some redemption just don’t think it will happen here.

Boston 6, Buffalo 3
